The Lady Braves volleyball team had little success this year, ending their season with an overall record of 5-29. The team was ranked 9 in the KCAC with a conference record of 4-14.
Freshman Brittany Bush played middle blocker for the team throughout the season.
"In the KCAC tournament, we played well and we played strong but we couldn't pull through to get the victory against Kansas Wesleyan. We were a young team but we will have success in the future. We didn't lose by much but we lost," Bush said.
The team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs on Nov. 8, losing the match in three games to the Kansas Wesleyan Wildcats. The girls lost 17-25 in the first game, 16-25 in the second, 13-25 in the third and final game.
Brenda Jackson led the team in kills and Autumn Reece led the team in assists during the playoff game.
Laura Jeannin, senior libero, was emotional about the loss.
"I cried when we lost in the first round of the playoffs. I think the loss affected the seniors the most because that was our last college volleyball game ever. I grew to love this team very much and throughout this year we became a sisterhood. This was a good experience for all of the young players so now they know what to expect for next year," Jeannin said.
Freshman Serita Ingram also plays middle blocker for the Lady Braves.
"I was very upset about the loss but all we can do is learn from it and do better next year. Right now we have a young team but, as in years past, we will build a stronger team and I promise that this team will never be the same," Ingram said.
