Brown Hall continues its reputation

Every college has at least one dormitory with a dreadful reputation beyond all others, that dirty, smelly, nasty place that no one wants to go. Ottawa University's dorm with that reputation is, in fact, Brown Hall and I have been a witness to this nastiness since August when I first began school.
Brown Hall has had countless meetings recently - meetings that I have attended - about how unsanitary Brown Hall is. There is a great deal of filth everywhere I turn, including but not limited to masses of trash, vandalism, weird smells and sickness going around.
Students are trashing more than just their rooms and you'd think students 18 to 21 would be able to respect things that aren't their own, but not in this case. At the last meeting, someone mentioned the fact that Brown Hall janitors have not been able to disinfect the dormitory the way they should because they have been overwhelmed.
People aren't even flushing in the bathrooms.
How old are we again?
Seriously, we are old enough to know that this kind of behavior isn't cool and that no one wants to find a surprise like that, let alone have to clean it up. These are huge health hazards. The entire dorm is a huge health hazard, teeming with strep, colds and God knows what other germs being passed around.
The danger is such that the entire cleaning staff is in danger of being dismissed and students will be left to fend for themselves.
There are even talks of fines, though no specific number has been decided and, though the nastiness of Brown Hall has upset me and numerous others, I feel that dismissing the cleaning staff and paying fines is simply too much.
If the janitors are allowed to do what they're paid to do and students treat Brown Hall with respect, as if it were their own, I think we could break Brown's reputation. There are other ways to deal with this.

Every University should not have to have "at least one dormitory with a dreadful reputation", if that dorm has been branded as a disaster zone it has been because of the residents, NOT the building or the custodial staff. (Continued…)
