Core group starts new project

Christmas is a time that most get to spend with their families and those in the military don't always have that luxury, but one senior core group is trying to make the holiday season a little more bearable for those stationed halfway around the world. The group - composed by Rebecca Loe, Ashley Siemers, Doug Crawshaw and Anne Le- is working on their final project for senior core, putting together care packages for members of the armed services overseas.

The drive was something that former player Abel Frederic started but has been continued by the football program in his absence. The concept of Ottawa University, for most students, exists solely within the 2-by-2 block area that makes up the campus. The average student is vaguely aware of the numerous OU adult campus locations and that somehow the Ottawa tribe is connected to the university.

On Nov. 12, Phil McClintock scored his 1000th career point. He is just the 21st player in Ottawa University men's basketball history to reach that landmark but the senior from Neosho, Mo., doesn't stop and has already shot past 1050 points. "It means a lot.

A tale of two brothers sharing experiences through Ottawa University wasn't always what Doug and Ben Crawshaw had in mind. After graduating high school the decision of where to attend college was put upon the brothers, who are only 16 months apart. Doug, being one year ahead of Ben in high school, hadn't always planned on attending OU.

Shows people hate to love

People seem to love mindless television, turning on guilty pleasure shows that they won't admit to watching but can't seem to turn off. Karah Davis, junior education major, sheds some light on the phenomenon. "My guess as to why people watch these kinds of shows is because they feel that their lives aren't exciting enough so they watch these shows to live vicariously through them.

Paying taxes

We are at a critical point in our economic and fiscal lives. We are facing a massive two-headed monster that that only grows bigger every time we try to kill it. The first problem: Company after company is either moving their production to foreign countries or leaving the United States altogether.
